Luanshya District Commissioner Oncemore Ngonomo says the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) should intensify the recruitment of members and regulations of the engineering profession in order to ensure that quality works are guaranteed from professional engineers.
Mr. Ngonomo also notes that it is important for the local authority to see to it that personnel from its Engineering Department are all registered with EIZ as a way of ensuring that there is no compromise in the quality of services being delivered to the people.
And EIZ Northern Region Chairperson Chansa Musonda has expressed hope that the decision by Government to increase Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations to local authorities will give room for more members of his organisation to partner with other players and contribute towards implementing various developmental projects.
Engineer Musonda also appealed to the local authority to follow the regulations by ensuring that all its employees doing various engineering works are registered with the Institute.
