North Western Province Permanent Secretary Colonel Grandson Katambi has called for the need to strike a balance between both the girl and boy child in terms of empowerment.

Col. Katambi observes that a lot of attention is given to a girl child; a situation he says has left the boy child vulnerable.

He warns that the status quo if left unchecked has the potential to make the boy child more vulnerable that the girl child currently is to the extent of failing to contribute to the development of the nation.

Col. Katambi said this during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting on gender matters organised by the Extractive Industry Transparency Alliance (EITA) in collaboration with Kansanshi Mining Plc in Solwezi District.

He said there is need for all stakeholders to change the narrative and ensure that the two are supported or given equal opportunities so that they move in unison.
