The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) has expressed deep concern over the recent intermittent network and service outages experienced on the Airtel network.

ZICTA Manager Corporate Communications Hanford Chaaba discloses that in response, the Authority has issued a directive to Airtel Networks Zambia Plc, instructing them to compensate all affected subscribers in accordance with the approved compensation policy within a five-day timeframe, starting from today, 8th December, 2023.

Mr. Chaaba adds that ZICTA has mandated the network provider to promptly engage the public through all available platforms, addressing the recent network outages and assuring subscribers of their resolution.

He reveals that Airtel Networks Zambia Plc has further been urgently directed to implement measures to prevent future outages and to submit a long-term plan to enhance network resilience to the Authority.

ZICTA has emphasised its commitment to actively monitor the performance of all service providers to ensure strict adherence to Quality of Service (QoS) guidelines. The public is also encouraged to continue reporting any issues related to network unavailability or service quality.
