Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo has issued a call for Mopani Copper Mines (MCM) to address its outstanding debt with Kitwe City Council. Acknowledging Mopani’s significant contributions to the council through rates, Mr. Matambo noted that the government has recently facilitated the reopening of the mining company.

In light of this development, Mr. Matambo stated that the importance of Mopani fulfilling its financial obligations, especially considering the injection of funds into the mine and its gradual recovery.

He highlighted Mopani’s responsibility to settle its debt to the Kitwe City Council as part of its commitment to the local community.
