Advocacy for People’s Prosperity (APP) Party President Mwenya Musenge has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for taking the step to fire Luapula Province Minister Derricky Chilundika.
Yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema dismissed Luapula Province Minister Derricky Chilundika with immediate effect.
Later on, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale disclosed that Police in Lusaka had arrested Derricky Chilundika, former Luapula Province Minister for carrying out mining activities without a License contrary to Section 12(1)(3) of the Mines and Minerals Act Number 11 of 2015.
It is alleged that the suspect, while acting together with others, mined 23 tonnes of Sugilite Mineral Ore in Chembe District between 4th and 13th January, 2023, without a license.
Speaking in an interview with Flava News, Mr. Musenge said this is the way to go in fighting corruption among prominent people who feel they have the power to do anything.
Mr. Musenge who is former Copperbelt Province Minister under the Patriotic Front notes that everyone saw how Ministers were protected if found wanting in the previous regime, stating that the president has shown sound regency in the way he has handled the issue.
Mr. Musenge states that government should not just stop at this and they should also extend investigations look to the missing 2022 CDF in Solwezi Central Constituency, in order to restore public confidence in the fight against corruption.
