Lubansenshi Member of Parliament Taulo Chewe has acknowledged that government has made significant investments in geological mapping to ensure that Zambia’s mineral resources are properly identified, documented, and integrated into national records.

Mr. Chewe said Zambia’s mineral wealth extends far beyond the Copperbelt, noting that provinces such as North-Western and Northern, among others, also host substantial mineral deposits that must be fully explored and sustainably utilised.

He revealed that substantial funding has been allocated through the national budget to support mineral mapping across the country, a move he said will enhance Zambia’s capacity to accurately declare its mineral endowment and overall economic potential.

The lawmaker further explained that the initiative will work closely with the Minerals Commission to promote local content, ensuring that Zambians derive long-term benefits from the exploitation of the country’s natural resources.

Mr. Chewe stressed that increased production remains a key priority under President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration, emphasising that national development cannot be achieved without improved productivity.

He urged all stakeholders, particularly those in the mining sector, to play an active role in contributing to national development, noting that collective effort is essential for Zambia to realise its full economic potential and progress to the next level.
