The Lusaka City Council (LCC), in collaboration with the Zambia Police Service, has conducted a joint inspection in Kalingalinga’s Hellen Kaunda area following a fatal bee attack earlier this month.
LCC Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba said the inspection, conducted on 16 February 2026, focused on premises owned by Mr. Gracious Matunda, where two beehives had been kept.
She explained that the beehives were relocated to a designated farming area in Chongwe on 7 February 2026 before a detailed search was conducted.
Ms. Mwamba said the operation aimed to gather critical information while ensuring public health and safety standards are upheld. The Council has since advised residents against keeping bees in residential areas due to safety risks.
LCC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding communities from activities that threaten public health and safety.
