The Zambia Police Service has officially arrested and charged Mrs. Jane Lusengo Shikapwasha, 73, for the alleged murder of her husband, the late Lieutenant General Ronald Shikapwasha, (Rtd). The arrest follows an incident at their residence, in Ibex Hill, on 14th January, 2024, between 17:00 and 18:00 hours.

In a statement made available to Flava News, Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga revealed that Twin Palm Police Station conducted a thorough investigation, resulting in the accumulation of substantial evidence leading to the arrest of Mrs. Shikapwasha. The arrest was carried out today at Twin Palm Police Station (formerly Ibex Hill Police Station).

According to the allegations, on Sunday, between 17:00 and 18:00 hours, Mrs. Shikapwsha, acting alone, allegedly caused the death of Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha after she shot him.

The incident involved the use of a double-barrel short gun, resulting in a gunshot wound to the left side of the abdomen. The deceased passed away on Monday, 15th January, 2024, at 21:40 hours at Maina Soko Military Hospital.

Mrs. Shikapwasha is currently in police custody, awaiting a court appearance.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha served as Zambia Air Force Commander as well as various ministerial positions in his time of active public service.
