The Opposition Golden Party of Zambia (GPZ) has called on the New Dawn Government administration to inform the nation on the ongoing displacement of families and people in Zambezi district due to the recent conflict between the Lunda and Luvale people in the area.
It has been reported that Lunda’s in predominantly Luvale areas are moving out and the same is happening to Luvale’s in Lunda areas a situation which GPZ President Jackson Silavwe has described as unacceptable in a nation which professes to be one through its ‘One Zambia One Nation’ motto.
Mr. Silavwe says he takes great exception to the lack of strong intervention from both the Lunda and Luvale traditional leadership in bringing their people together.
He states that politicians are mostly conflicted and stoke ethnic tension to win votes in their favour in Zambia and he has since urged the traditional leaders to remain steadfast as they are the last bastion of hope and peace.
