In a significant move, President Hakainde Hichilema has taken decisive actions at the Zambia Airforce, resulting in changes to its top leadership. With immediate effect, Lieutenant General Collin Barry’s appointment as Zambia Airforce Commander has been terminated, citing Article 270 of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.

President Hichilema has expressed gratitude to Lieutenant General Barry for his dedicated service to the Government of the Republic of Zambia and extended best wishes for his future endeavours.

In a simultaneous announcement, the President has appointed Major General Oscar Nyoni as the new Zambia Airforce Commander. Alongside this appointment, Major General Nyoni has been promoted to the substantive rank of Lieutenant General in the Zambia Airforce. These decisions align with the provisions of Section 165(1) of the Defence Act, Chapter 106 of the Laws of Zambia, and Article 91(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.

Additionally, President Hichilema has appointed Brigadier General Arthur Kalaluka as the Zambia Airforce Deputy Commander. In conjunction with this appointment, Brigadier General Kalaluka has been promoted to the substantive rank of Major General in the Zambia Airforce. These decisions are in accordance with the provisions of Article 91(1) and Article 92(2)(e) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.
