Governance and Human Rights Advocate Wesley Miyanda says the harassment of Times of Zambia Photojournalist Henry Chunza by Chiengi Constituency Independent Member of Parliament, Reverend Given Katuta is uncalled for and needs to be condemned by all Civil Society Organisations, Media bodies and all peace loving Zambians.

Mr. Miyanda says the behavior exhibited by the MP who spit on  Mr. Chunza and called him by unpalatable names is not only unacceptable in society but also criminal because the journalist was merely carrying out his duties as accredited by the national Assembly.

He says the Lawmaker was supposed to be remorseful after being suspended and made to take a walk of shame out of Parliament by the Speaker of the National Assembly for unruly behavior and misconduct in the House but her recent conduct shows otherwise.

Mr. Miyanda adds that according to the Penal Code, anyone found guilty of battery is liable to a sentencing of not less than 5 years imprisonment with hard labour upon conviction and therefore he expects the police to act against the disgruntled Chiengi Lawmaker and allow the fair share of justice to prevail.
