Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo today received petition letters in Ndola, from members of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) across the Copperbelt Province who went to show solidarity to President Hakainde Hichilema following death threats issued against him by Zimbabwean’s ZANU-PF Treasurer General Patrick Chinamasa and Rutendo Matinyarare.

Mr. Matambo says the statement issued by the Zimbabwean duo against President Hichilema is a source of concern and can fuel a diplomatic row, adding that over the years Zambia and Zimbabwe have shared cordial relations and such reckless sentiments should not come from leaders.

The Provincial Minister states that he will present all petitions from Copperbelt to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, as these concerns should reach the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU).

The party members also commended the Head of State following numerous pronouncements made during his speech when he opened the 3rd session of the 13th National Assembly on Friday.
