The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Party has reiterated its opposition to the intended return of Vedanta Resources Limited under Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) by the UPND government.
EFF Secretary General Changala Siame has expressed concern that the actions and statements made by President Hakainde Hichilema contradict his previous remarks, where he stated that his government had no intention of reinstating Vedanta.
Mr. Siame points out that Vedanta Resources evaded taxes amounting to $107 million, as established by the London Arbitration Court of the High Court in the United Kingdom which deprived the Zambian public of much-needed funds for essential service delivery.
He adds that it is deeply concerning that the UPND government is considering the return of Vedanta Resources despite their criminal, cruel, and negligent actions and the EFF has implored all Zambians and stakeholders to join the party in vehemently opposing and condemning this intended return.
