National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) Executive Director Aaron Chansa states that the increased school enrollment from 4 million to 5.8 million between 2020 and 2023 from pre-school to grade 12 shows that the free education policy in the country is working.

Mr. Chansa notes that most people who could not meet different school expenses have all gone back to school.

He has however pointed out that the quality of education has gone down due to the high number of learners in classes which has compromised the quality of interaction between a teacher and a pupil.

NAQEZ has since called for more investment in the education sector so that more teachers can be recruited in order to meet the teacher-pupil ratio as well as to increase learning infrastructure.
