The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) says President Hakainde Hichilema should take full charge of his administration because that is why people voted for him.
FDD Secretary General Nathan Mulonga states that the lamentations by the Head of State over the poor performance of his officials clearly shows that the people he has appointed seem to be working at variance with his vision for the country.
Mr. Mulonga says instead of complaining, President Hichilema should take full charge and be more proactive by firing those he has appointed that are not performing accordingly.
He says the President should apply performance measures for all political appointees, adding that the idea of keeping people who are underperforming in positions will cost not only him but the whole country as well.
And commenting on the presidential directive to sell all new vehicles purchased for senior government officials, Mr. Mulonga wondered how the said vehicles were bought without the knowledge of the President and he states that while the directive may be well intended, the cost at which will they will be sold will be lower than what they were bought at as they have already lost value.
