As Zambia joins the rest of the world in commemorating World Whistleblower Day, Transparency International Zambia (TI-Z) has recognised the immense sacrifices that whistleblowers in different contexts have continued to make to uphold accountability.
TI-Z Executive Director Maurice Nyambe notes that whistleblowers are catalysts for progress as well as the restoration of trust and integrity whose disclosures have sparked investigations, triggered reforms, and initiated critical conversations that lead to systemic improvements.
Mr. Nyambe adds that TI-Z, through its Active Citizenship strategic focus, has been working to address the root causes of corruption and support victims of corruption by promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity through community action, citizen activism, and reporting of service delivery malpractices.
TI-Z has since reiterated the need to cultivate a society that recognises the immense value whistleblowers bring to our communities and has called for the continued championing of truth, upholding ethics, and standing in solidarity with those who risk everything to expose the truth
