The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) says the recent approval of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Policy at cabinet level is commendable.

Cabinet said the revision of the policy was necessitated by the rapid developments in technological space including artificial intelligence, big data, machine learning and robotics as well as changes in the business models adopted by providers of various ICT services.

ZICTA Manager Corporate Communications, Hanford Chaaba tells Flava News that this development pertains to the relevance of the ICT Policy with the role that it plays in fostering development.

Mr. Chaaba points out that the presence of the ICT policy will create an enabling environment for ICT development and establish necessary infrastructure such as telecoms networks.

He is of the view that the move by cabinet will help ensure that all segments of society including marginalised groups have access to ICTs.
