Councillor Francis Kabuseni of Bupe Ward in Kitwe’s Kamfinsa Constituency has raised concerns about the need for meticulous scrutiny at every stage of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects. The call comes in the aftermath of heavy rains that caused significant damage, blowing off the roof of a Skills Training Centre under construction in his ward on Monday afternoon.
The training centre, which had reached an 80% completion status as of the end of October, was gearing up for its first intake in January or March of the upcoming year. Councillor Kabuseni expressed his disappointment with the incident, considering it a setback that will inevitably result in delays. He also voiced his displeasure with the contractor responsible for the construction.
The civic leader emphasised the importance of thorough inspection and guidance from both contractors and Kitwe City Council at every stage of CDF-funded projects. This, he believes, will prevent such incidents in the future and ensure the timely and successful completion of community initiatives.
Mr. Kabuseni further urges a more careful approach to project oversight to avert similar setbacks in the ongoing development projects in the area.
