The Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) has identified a notable issue wherein both employees and Human Resource Managers are reluctant to report challenges encountered in many companies.
In an interview with Flava News, ZIHRM Honourary Secretary Innocent Kolala explained that employees and HR managers often refrain from reporting issues. He attributed this reluctance to HR professionals aligning with their employers, understanding the nature of ZIHRM’s role. Simultaneously, employees hesitate to voice concerns about their HR departments due to fears of job loss.
Mr. Kolala acknowledged that this poses a challenge for ZIHRM in effectively implementing and holding companies accountable for mistreating their workers. He clarified that the institute is proactive in enforcing its mandate but encounters resistance from institutions. He emphasized that the institute does not reject complaints from employees and is eager to carry out its duties.
Mr. Kolala highlighted that the majority of workers do not submit complaints, but ZIHRM remains steadfast in its commitment to executing its duties and addressing issues affecting employees in the workplace.
