Veterinary Doctor Cholwe Sasa has urged members of the public to promote responsible dog ownership and prevent dog attacks on unsuspecting victims.
Dr. Sasa has further appealed to all dog owners and potential owners to ensure that they have adequate housing which is well secured; are able to feed them and are able to provide proper health care for them.
He says all routine health management checks should be provided for the animals so that incidences of dog bites and attacks can be reduced.
Dr. Sasa says it is sad that most people do not even understand the type of dog breed they own and this has led to their failure to manage or control their pets.
Last month, Police arrested a 50-year-old resident of Northrise in Ndola whose dogs allegedly mauled to death an unidentified man.
Musonda Kayombo was arrested after it was established that his three dogs caused the death of the victim. Mr. Kayombo was charged with manslaughter while his dogs were gunned down.
