California-based exploration firm KoBold Metals, which uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify battery metal deposits, is investing $150 Million to explore and develop Zambia’s Ming’omba deposit; which is reportedly the highest underdeveloped large copper resource in the world using artificial intelligence.

Co-founder and Global President Josh Goldman says the goal is to increase Zambia’s copper production from 850, 000 metric tonnes per annum to 3 million metric tonnes over the next 10 years.

And KoBold Zambia CEO Mfikeyi Makayi said currently there are five drill rigs on site, and 200 local people including contractors have been empowered.

Kolbod Metals secured the exploration and development rights to the illustrious Ming’omba Deposit in December 2022. The Deposit formerly known as the Lubambe Extension Project is strategically located in Chililabombwe District.
