Ministry of Labour Acting Permanent Secretary, Zechariah Luhanga, has provided reassurance to the Labour Sector regarding the ongoing review of the Employment Code Act No.3 of 2019, emphasising a thorough consultative process.
Mr. Luhanga affirmed the government’s dedication to eliminating rigidities within the Act that hinder the smooth operations of businesses and enterprises. His remarks were made during a special stakeholders consultative meeting convened to address gaps and challenges identified during the Act’s implementation and enforcement.
Highlighting the importance of collaboration and social dialogue, Mr. Luhanga expressed gratitude for the active participation of social partners, employer and employee representatives, and other stakeholders in the review process, essential for economic growth and a transformative agenda.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for businesses while addressing impediments to their operation.
At the same event, ILO Country Director for Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique, Wellington Chibebe, highlighted the significant transformation occurring in the world of work. He emphasised the need for adaptability, continuous learning, and a focus on skills and productivity in response to evolving trends shaping employment and corporate structures.
