Opposition Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) President Sean Tembo has challenged the Zambian people to put his projection on record that the price of mealie-meal will increase to about K400 by December and K500 or more by April 2024.

Speaking on Flava’s Community Viewpoint Programme this morning, Mr. Tembo said the UPND government’s poor policies are responsible for the escalated high cost of living that citizens have been subjected to and this can be seen through the inability of many Zambians to afford a basic essential commodity such as mealie-meal.

Mr. Tembo points out that mealie-meal was fetching for K110 when the UPND came into power but the price has more than doubled  and this can be attributed to the high cost of transportation and processing; delayed delivery of farming inputs and the decision by government to increase the maize floor price.
