Opposition Golden Party of Zambia (GPZ) President Jackson Silavwe says the standoff between the Zambia Police and former Republican President Edgar Lungu at his home was completely unnecessary.

Yesterday, armed police officers surrounded former President Edgar Lungu’s residence in Lusaka’s Ibex Hill. The Police Officers were reportedly searching the former head of state’s residence in connection with ownership of a motor vehicle.

Mr. Silavwe however charges that anything done outside the Republican Constitution becomes jungle law and attracts such bizarre standoffs.

He adds that the fight against corruption must be fought within the prescribed law of the land for it to be legitimate.
