The Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) in Mufulira District has disclosed that there is only one data card printer in the province which is Ndola District and this has posed serious challenges for their operations.
The Disability Identity Card is a legal document used to identify a Person with Disability, in the same manner as a Driving License (DL). In addition, the card is also used as proof of disability when such proof is required under any State law. A Person with Disability can obtain an Identity Card from ZAPD.
Speaking in an interview with Flava news, ZAPD Mufulira District Coordinator Christabel Nsofwa said that there is need for Mufulira to have a printer of its own as there are many clients in the district.
Ms. Nsofwa discloses that currently the district is doing disability certification, stating that it is very difficult if persons with disabilities do not have disability cards.
