Former State House Special Assistant to the President for Politics, Chris Zumani Zimba, alongside Marlone Banda, Potipher Gwai, and Given Phiri, have appeared in the Lusaka Magistrate Court.

The matter came up for allocation and explanation of the charge.

The Principal Resident Magistrate has since allocated the matter to Resident Magistrate, Mbuywana Naiza Sinvula.

Dr. Zimba with his co-accused were charged and arrested with the offence of terrorism and proliferation of articles of terrorism under Section 25 of the Anti-Terrorism and Non-Proliferation Act of 2018 as amended in 2023, which offences are capital offenses.

He was arrested on 30th May 2023 and has been detained at Woodlands Police Station and later Ibex Hill Police Post and has only appeared in court, 30 days later.

The Defence is expected to apply for a Preliminary Inquiry to test the evidence and charge against the accused persons before it is referred to the High Court for trial.
