Government says the tourism sector remains key in fostering the much-desired economic growth in the economy.
During a ministerial roundtable dialogue meeting at the ongoing Africa Travel Indaba 2023 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in South Africa, Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba said the Ministry is committed to driving the Government’s agenda of enhancing investment in the tourism sector.
Mr. Sikumba noted that the tourism sector is a money spinner for both investors and Government and the Ministry had placed a premium on its promotion in raking in revenue for the Government, which in turn spurs the much-needed economic development.
He says Zambia has a variety of unique tourism sites that have continued to attract many tourists and that due to its conducive business environment; the country has become a destination of choice for Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) not only in tourism, but other sectors as well.
The Tourism Minister adds that the objectives of the Africa Tourism Indaba include rethinking and developing strategies in the tourism sector and the Zambian Government values and encourages strategic Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in the tourism sector.
